This Week in the Indiana, Indianapolis Mission
In my first area we worked with Less Actives a lot, and one of the Less Actives that we helped back into activity was Sister Hand. After I started training, she started coming out with us to other lessons, inviting us to dinners, and allowing us to come and serve her. Her husband, Brother Hand, is a devout Lutheran and can be very antagonistic (mainly to the Elders, not us). Brother hand found out a few months ago that he only has 5 months to live. So, he allowed us to come over more and more to help Sister Hand clean her home and such.Last Saturday, Brother Hand told Sister Hand "I need to go on a walk, I love you". Sister Hand was very worried, but let him go. He came home hours later and suddenly started bearing his testimony of how he knows that Joseph Smith is a prophet, how the Book of Mormon is true, and how all you have to do is follow Moroni's promise to pray and you can know. Now, anyone who knows Brother Hand would think this is CRAZY! Later that night he turned to Sister Hand and said "I think I need to be baptized". I got the phone call last night that he passed his baptismal interview, and he is preparing to be baptized THIS Saturday. God. is. so. good.
Sister Hain has only been baptized for 2 years herself and responded to the Prophet's invitation when the missionary age was lowered, three weeks after her 19th birthday and three days before her year mark as a member.
